Just watched this Robert Anton Wilson video. It is quite interesting on a number of levels. I won’t explain, it’s just something to watch and enjoy. But be warned, the whole thing is two hours, although you might want to skip the music in the interval.
After all, the current one is all messed up!
Q. Hi Sally.
A Hi Sally!
Q. I’d like to ask myself if there is anything deeper in your above n.w.o joke.
A. Well, I’d welcome such questions from myself. Go ahead!
Q. What is a new world order?
A. A change in the worlds balance of power.
Q. Is that all? Why do I keep find loads of conspiracy stuff on the web about it then?
A. Because fundamentalist christians in the USA, such as Pat Robinson, used the term to describe their paranoid end-times fantasy of a secret Satanic conspiracy that planned to take over the world and bring about the rule of the anti-Christ. At the same time hard-right wing americans used the term to describe their own pet conspiracy theory of a secret communist plot to take over the world and build a totalitarian collectivist one world government. I personally see at as a grand insidious hoax on a par with the ‘rotocols of Zion’, which could if left unchecked and uncountered, lead to the mass extermination of pagans and occultists, in much the same way that earlier conspiracy theory lead to the mass extermination of anyone the Fascists and National Socialists considered as ‘Jewish’. If a large minority group like Europe’s Jewish population in the 20th century were unable to resist the hatred stirred up against them by people willing to spread hate propaganda, then the much smaller minority groupings of pagan’s and occultists won’t be able resist if people start believing the hate propaganda that fundamentalist christians are trying to stir up against them.
Q. Then why do politicians keep talking about a new world order?
A. They don’t. At least not in the sense the conspiracy theorists imply. Politicians have used term to describe any significant shift in the world’s balance of political and economic power.
Q. This is so confusing, how can we tell the difference?
A. Easy. The fundamentalist Christian propagandists capitalise all the letters, or even initialise them into a N.W.O. acronym in order to make it look like the name of an actual organisation.
Q. So when politicians talk about forming a new world order, you support them?
A. Probably not. Saying you want things to change says nothing about how you want things to change. Most politicians, including in democracies, tend towards a very authoritarian world view, and mostly look to change things in such a way as to benefit their own financial interests and increase their personal power base.
Q. So what kind of new world order do you want?
A. I want to see more bottom-up change, that slowly dismantles the means by which the few can hold power over the many, whether that few are elected or otherwise. Power to individuals and communities to chose their own way of life, not dictated to and controlled by politicians. My body, my mind, my choice.
Q. Thankyou Sally, its been good talking to me.
A. No problem Sally, thanks for asking these questions! It really helped me get my head around writing about the whole thing.
Recently I got hooked by a conspiracy theory myself and managed to dismiss it. What turned up though was the conspirascy behind the conspiracy theory.
I suggest that you don’t believe every conspiracy theory naively that turns up on every website. Don’t confuse critical thinking with reading conspiracy theory. There’s a major theme in and behind conspiracy literature which you might not yet be aware of.
Take a look at Wikipedia and see what they have to offer on the John Birch Society. You’ll quickly see that this very society is a central origin of many conspiracy myths. Did you know you fell prey to far right propaganda when you rant about Illuminati? Robert Anton Wilson has often parodied the thinking of the John Birch Society.
A lot of stuff going on and a lot of lies which are spread can directly be traced back to the JBS. So probably it’s rather not any government behind the disinformation.
Many other conspiracy theories can be traced back to David Icke. I have not so far seen what his actual intention is, or if he’s just whacky, what I see is he’s the centre of a lot of false bullshit.
Dismissing those two major threads of conspiracy theory will already help you a big deal in really liberating your mind.
It seems that the subject of conspiracy theory has reared its ugly head on kiamagic.com over the last week. Personally I find speculation about conspiracy theory one of the least productive endeavours a human can engage their brain over, and in particular a big distraction from the path of enlightenment as it serves only to trap the mind in a labyrinth of its own creation, separating us from the experience of the here and now. The very definition of Samsara.
Gwydion explores a much more instructive approach to conspiracy in the article ‘Turn the pyramid upside down‘, where instead of ranting fruitlessly about global injustice, we actively pursue the promotion of local justice.
Yet I find the existence of conspiracy theory to itself be instructive. The fact that so many get trapped in its maze speaks to me of the deep dissatisfaction that most people feel with the authoritarian system in which we find ourselves. Democracy may allow for more freedom than dictatorship, but it still allows for the disproportionate distribution of power to the few, and the disenfranchisement of the individual of sovereignty over their own minds and bodies.
This lack of individual sovereignty I see as the key. Rather than getting ourselves lost in a labyrinth of conspiracy attempting to expose whatever we perceive as the “illuminati”, would it not prove more constructive to attempt to rebuild the world in such a way that no small group could wield so much disproportionate power?
Lets assume that there really is a secret conspiracy attempting to enslave the world. I would immediately ask a couple of questions…
1. What does it change? To my mind little, because we already know about a lot of groups that are attempting to enslave the world that are right out in the open. And much of the world is already enslaved.
2. How do we best fight them? Attempts to “expose” such an illuminati plays into its hands. Such a group cannot have any real power of its own, but rather must exercise its power through the various groups (governments, religions, political ideologies, corporations, militia) it is able to control or exert influence over, and then only to the extent it is able to control and influence them. Further, attempts to expose them will rely on spreading the message, but in the course of spreading it they will subvert it by two means. One, they will spread counter disinformation to discredit it, dismiss it and make it seem ridiculous. Second, they will sabotage the exposure by deliberately spreading it themselves, but in such a way that it seems silly, or in such a way that divides and distracts. For example, fundamentalist Christian conspiracy theorists will attempt to blame everything on a Satanic conspiracy, whereas other groups may attempt to blame it on communists, capitalists, Jews, aliens, lizard people depending on their own bizarre theories, prejudices and hatreds. Job done, by helping to spread the conspiracy theory they have been able to distort its message and discredit it at the same time.
Exposure therefore simply attacks them in a place where they can maintain the greatest strength and therefore will prove a wasted effort. But this does not leave us powerless, but rather suggests to me that we look for a place of weakness where their structure will crumble. I personally believe their weakness lies in the fact that they must, by definition, exert no direct power over us, but rather must act through controlling the various institutions that effect our lives. We must reduce and decentralise the power these institutions can wield over our individual lives. We must eradicate the authoritarian power of all institutions, be they governments, political parties and movements, religions, magical groups, corporations, education and legal systems, either by doing away with them, or by reforming them into movements that support and promote the sovereignty of the individual over their own minds and bodies. We have nothing to lose from doing so, since even if the ‘illuminati’ doesn’t exist we will still eradicate authoritarian power over us by pursuing this agenda, whilst removing their means to exert power and influence if they do.
Either way we will win and the existence or otherwise of a secret conspiracy becomes irrelevant.
For this reason I find conspiracy theories are an irrelevant distraction from the current task of building a free world of sovereign individuals. Their truth or otherwise makes no difference to the path I wish to take, or the course of action I feel engaged in, or the way in which I perceive we need to reform and transform human society. We have a course of action that will lead to great benefits for all, regardless of the existence or otherwise of secret conspiracies, and which, if they exist, will relieve them of the means to exert power over us.
This is VERy important information I am sharing around the Web. First I want to link you to this:
& if THAT dont freak you out enough, try this!
What are your thoughts and feelings about this please?
